Don’t you ever dare try to tell me that Thor doesn’t love Loki, or that he’s a terrible big brother.
A little bit of context for those who haven’t read this: Loki just told Thor that the reason everything is falling to shit is because of his trickery. The Nine Realms are in dire danger; all because of Loki.
And Thor hugs him. Thor hugs him and tells him not only will it be fixed, but that they will fix it - that both of them will fix it. And..Holy shit. Wow. That’s pretty big right there. Loki is hated by so many and can’t be trusted; but Thor is not just saying, “I’ll make this right again.” No, he’s giving Loki a chance for the same glory; yeah, Loki messed up big time, but Thor is actually offering him the chance to redeem himself.
That’s pretty big, don’t you think? And not only that, but Thor isn’t even angry at Loki - or, if he is, he doesn’t show it. He could’ve went off into a rage, could’ve shouted and swore and hurt Loki - it’d be justified, if he did. You see that uncertainty in the fifth panel; he’s deciding But..No. He doesn’t do that.
He pulls Loki forward into a hug - and not a half-hearted hug, either, that’s some full-on hugging right there - assures him that it’ll be okay; and then goes on to tell them that the reason things will be fine is because they’ll fix it - together. Despite all the bad stuff Loki has done, despite the fact that everything that’s happening is his fault, Thor still wants Loki by his side.
Do you feel that?
That’s the feeling of knowing that no matter how big a Loki fan you claim to be, Thor will always love him so much more.
